we have white cabinets, black granite counters, and no backsplash! we want to do blackish gray mosaic glass tiles about one inch size that come as one foot by one foot easily installed mesh backed pieces. we also have a large travertine mosaic piece that I want to fit over the range. is it ok to do glass all around the walls and have the natural stone mosaic in the middle?
ReplyDeleteWe too have white cabinets with white countertops, and we're looking to paint our kitchen with a yellow buttercream or shade of mustard color. Any suggestions on a backsplash?
ReplyDeleteWe have nutmeg cabinets (cherry with cinnamon - not soo red), santa venetia or Sunset gold granite (need to choose) and brushed crome knobs with tile (desert sand) for flooring. NOt sure how this all blends in - any suggestions?

Yes I think that will work well.
ReplyDeleteThe natural stone mosaic tiles would be the centrepiece of the kitchen and the glass
mosaic tiles would compliment this nicely.
With the cabinets and granite and flooring that you have chosen rustic accessories
and colors would compliment that.
With your choice of cabinets, countertops and colour on the walls you could take advantage of a strong colour or design of backsplash to stand out. I suggest either a
plain black or a checkered backsplash, perhaps a subway tile.
We have contemporary light maple plain cabinets with straight stainless steel handles, emerald pearl (very dark) granite counter tops, and a pale blue floor tiles with some light and ivory mixed in with the blue. The house is contemporary-looking in the suburbs. What color and material would you suggest for the backsplash?
ReplyDeleteI have cherry cabinets and uba tuba black granite, I want to do a glass tile back splash that will brighten it up,nany suggestions?
ReplyDeleteMy wife has seen a title she wants to source for a splashback and I am hoping you can send me in the right direction. It is a square white tile that looks rough and possibly handmade, although probably not. It is heavily glazed and not entirely flat. It may be the tile in the second photo on the French Country Kitchen Backsplash Ideas Photos page. We are in Sydney and need about 2.5 sq mtrs
ReplyDeleteI have white cabinets, white tile on the walls, and just had new caledonia granite counter tops put in. We removed the 4x4 seafoam green accent tiles that ran along the bottom of the white tiles, and are thinking of replacing them with mini black subway tiles to bring out the black in the granite. How does that sound? Also, I had been picturing this with white grout, but the tile store person, who first wanted me to use black grout, then suggested a silver gray. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteWhat color of back splash would you suggest would work for our kitchen? we have maple cabinets with a terracota flooring, the counter tops are dark green and black spec.
ReplyDeleteThank you
I suggest mosaic tiles. The ones that are very small 1-2 inch square. In a mix of white/cream, beige, terracotta, to bring in the colors of the cabinets and flooring, but to contrast with the counter tops.
ReplyDeleteI am decididng on where to put my backsplash. It will go above the range and the wall between the counter and cabinets on that wall. But here is the question: do I use it on the other walls (beneath all the cabinetry I mean) too? I'm afraid it will be too much. I am going with a 1"x1" glass mosaic tile.
ReplyDeletethanks!C
On the "Red Gloss Kitchen" page, do you know the particular name of the shade of red in the first image? It a wine red with double oven and an island cooktop. Thanks for any assistance. Adrienne
ReplyDeleteI have white cabinets and white counter top in my kitchen(apartment). Now i want to replace my counter top with Granite (probably Uba Tuba)or would you suggest some different colors?
ReplyDeleteAlso would you suggest high backsplash with the same granite as of counter top?
Please advise.
Kris
I would suggest either white subway tiles if you like the look of them, or small black and white mosaic tiles, for an interesting look in your kitchen

ReplyDelete1)Would you suggest darker or lighter color Granite for kitchen counter top?
2)What would be the preferable colors/shades?
Your advice is highly appreciated.
Kris
Does backsplash have to match the counter top or the cupboards? Not sure.
ReplyDeleteNo, it does not. I recently redid the counter tops and backsplash. So glad I did not continue the granite for the back splash. It would have been more expensive, and kind of boring. Instead I put in 4"of black mini subway tiles along the bottom. It looks fantastic and really makes the kitchen. The color also ties together the granite (new caledonia), the white tiles above the black tiles, and the white cabinets. The more creative you are, the more interesting it will look, IMO.
ReplyDeleteIm trying to do a ceramic tile backsplash and after i thought i had done the right measurements and drew my line...i come to find that it would look better if i put the outlet covers on the surface of the design instead of recessing it. will this drastically change my design?
ReplyDeleteWe're redoing our kitchen in a couple of weeks but have already selected most of the components. We are doing shaker style lightly colored birch cabinets,a black quartz counter, black porcelain plank style tiles on the floor. The walls are going to be a very light blue color, stainless and black appliances. I've always wanted to do white subway tiles as a backsplash but is it too stark to have black counters and white tiles together? We do have a lot of black and white in our house. Our family room has a black and white checker board floor along with a bathroom with white hexagon and small black square tiles. Our house has a craftsman style feel with lots of bright colors. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteWhen installing a granite backsplah, should the corners be cut at a angle to fit or is it ok to just put it together without being cut?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to find the backsplash tile shown in the last photo of this posting: http://kitchenbacksplashes.blogspot.com/2010/07/kitchen-blue-backsplash-photos.html
ReplyDeleteDo you know where I can find this tile and/or the name of the manufacturer or distributor? Thanks!!
I have real mexican tile in my kitchen and wanted to know what color cabinets and counter top would go with it.
ReplyDeleteFor something a bit different I would go with white shaker style cabinets with a light colored granite or marble countertop
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me where I can order the tiles in the second picture under the heading kitchen backsplash ideas pictres. The pic has a black granite worktop and a spice rack in the corker and bottle of wine.
ReplyDeleteI am remodeling my kitchen. I have chosen Delicatus granite for my countertops and am using shaker style cabinets made of lyptus wood stained espresso in color. I have stainless hardware and appliances. What would you suggest to use as a backsplash?
ReplyDeleteDesparately looking for the name of the granite and backsplash under backsplashes with black granite countertops, I think it is the third kitchen down from top and it has a spice rack in the middle of the counter and looks like ledger/stacked stone and has red glass tiles randomly. I would greatly appreciate the info!! thank you - anxiously awaiting!!
ReplyDeleteA little background of my kitchen.. Last year I painted my kitchen with a Tuscan Look from Lowes, it's on the tan/beige side.. My Cabinets are a light oak finish..I feel that everything is starting to blend. I would like to do a backplash to offset my color a bit. Do you have any recomendations on color/style for my backslash?
ReplyDeleteWe are putting new countertops and a backsplash in our kitchen. We live in a Cape Cod style house and have maple cabinets with stainless steel handles. Our walls are a soft buttery yellow and we are installing hardwoods in the kitchen that are close to the cabinet color. The countertops we chose are Clavaria by Pental Chroma Quartz but we are having a hard time choosing a backsplash. Ideas? I would be so grateful!
ReplyDeleteI have cappuchino cabinets and black granite. I am having a difficult time finding what type and color of backsplash. My kitchen looks a little bland. I have the pantry wall painted a deep "marshlands" color but can change it. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you in advance.
ReplyDeletewe are buying a new house, we are in the process of choosing kitchen cabinet : Sutton maple and Counter top: Kalahari Topaz 4588-07. what kind of backsplash goes nicely with this combination? we have one in mind Olympia Tumbled Quartzite brick mosaic golden sand. any better suggestion?
ReplyDeleteWe are painting our kitchen cabinets an off white on the perimeter cabinets and staining the island and butler pantry a medium to dark cherry with a black glaze. I would love to do Carrara marble for countertops, but feel they are not practicle with our 3 kids. I am going to use a granite and was thinking of the giallo ornamental since it has warm under tones. I would like to do a classic subway tile backsplash. My question is, do I go with the classic white tile and small grout lines in white or go with something not as classic and do an off white tile or perhaps a white tile with off white grout lines?? I'm afraid the white tile may look too stark white without any other bright white in the kitchen. The appliances are stainless steel. I'm also not sure if I should glaze the cabinets a bit in a chocolate color (not much at all) or just paint them. Any ideas? Thanks so much! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are showing a small kitchen hutch (third from the bottom)....Is there a location I might be able to purchase this hutch???
ReplyDeleteI have black appliances, with medium color oak cabinets, light counter tops(which we are changing to black) and our kitchen is painted maroon what color/type of back splash? We do get alot of light in our kitchen. Any ideas? We may even change the maroon on the walls but not sure of that yet. We were thinking brushed stainless steel tiles for the back splash but not sure if it would look good. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law is remodeling her kitchen, she wants to go with cherry cabinets with that red cherry stain and Rosewood granite tops. The installer said it would look to heavy and wants her to go more white on the granite. What do you think? She is kinda set on the Rosewood. Would it look ugly?
